Turning Your Design Reference into a Workable Denim Sample
Velden Denim develops jeans and denim garments for fashion brands, importers, wholesalers and private label programs. A project can begin with a complete tech pack, an authorized reference garment, a product image or a written specification.
Before pattern making, we review the proposed style, garment construction, measurements, fabric, wash, trims, branding, packaging and expected order quantity. This review helps identify missing or conflicting information that could affect the sample result, MOQ, quotation or bulk production schedule.
Our current production range includes straight jeans, denim shorts, denim overalls and flare jeans. Each product requires a different approach to fit, construction and post-wash measurement.
What to Include in a Denim Tech Pack
A practical tech pack should give the sample team enough information to understand the intended product without relying on assumptions. Buyers should provide as many of the following details as possible:
- Front and back technical drawings
- Construction and stitching details
- Measurement chart and tolerances
- Fabric composition and weight
- Stretch requirements
- Wash or color reference
- Buttons, rivets, zippers or buckles
- Labels, embroidery and accessories
- Size range
- Estimated quantity per style and color
- Packaging requirements
If a full tech pack is unavailable, we can review a reference sample or clear product images. Measurements, material requirements and construction details still need to be confirmed before an accurate sample and quotation can be prepared.
Pattern, Fit and Size Review
Pattern development translates the buyer’s design into the required garment shape and measurements. For jeans, important points normally include the rise, waist, hip, thigh, knee, inseam and leg opening.
Different styles require different controls. Flare jeans need a clearly defined knee position and flare width, while denim overalls require confirmation of the bib, straps, buckles and side construction. Denim shorts require accurate length, rise and leg-opening specifications.
Fabric behavior and washing can change the finished measurements, so fit cannot be reviewed separately from material and wash requirements. Our Fit, Size & Pattern Development page explains how these details are prepared for sample confirmation.
Fabric and Wash Sample Confirmation
The sample fabric should be selected according to composition, weight, stretch, hand feel and the intended wash. Cotton denim, stretch denim, cotton-blend denim, recycled denim and buyer-specified materials can be evaluated according to project requirements.
A wash sample is used to confirm color depth, fading, surface appearance, hand feel and post-wash measurements. Buyers with a specific target should provide a physical swatch, authorized garment sample or clear wash reference.

Sample Review and Revision
Typical sample development takes around 7–15 days, depending on style complexity, fabric availability, wash requirements and trims. The exact sample cost is evaluated after reviewing the product specification.
When reviewing a sample, buyers should check:
- Overall silhouette and fit
- Key garment measurements
- Fabric and stretch
- Wash, color and hand feel
- Pocket and seam construction
- Hardware and accessories
- Logo and label placement
- Finishing details
Feedback should be provided as one clear revision list with updated measurements, marked photographs or annotated drawings. This reduces conflicting instructions and helps the next sample follow the intended specification.
Pre-Production Approval Before Bulk Manufacturing
Bulk production should begin only after the fit, measurements, fabric, wash, trims, branding and packaging details have been confirmed. The approved sample and final specification provide the main references for cutting, sewing, washing and inspection.
Customized orders usually start from around 100 pieces per style. The workable MOQ depends on fabric, wash, colors, trims and garment construction. Bulk production normally takes around 30–60 days after the required approvals, materials and production arrangements are confirmed.
