Developing the Final Denim Appearance
Velden Denim supports wash, color and finishing development for straight jeans, denim shorts, denim overalls, flare jeans and other custom denim garments. The wash is reviewed together with the fabric, fit, garment construction and target appearance because these elements affect one another after processing.
Buyers can provide a physical garment, denim swatch, wash sample or clear reference images. A physical reference is preferable when the project requires a specific shade, fading level or hand feel. Before sampling, we review the fabric composition, base color, target wash, required finish, garment details and expected order quantity.
The confirmed result should be evaluated on an actual garment sample rather than selected only from a screen image or general wash name.
Wash and Color Options
Common development directions may include raw or unwashed denim, rinse wash, dark wash, medium wash, light wash and vintage-inspired finishes. Black, grey and other colored denim can also be evaluated according to fabric availability and project requirements.
The same wash description can produce different results on different fabrics. Fiber composition, denim weight, dyeing, stretch content and garment construction may affect:
- Final color depth
- Fading and contrast
- Surface texture
- Hand feel
- Seam and pocket appearance
- Shrinkage
- Stretch recovery
- Finished measurements

Wash Sample and Shade Approval
A wash sample is prepared to confirm the intended color, fading, texture and garment feel before bulk production. The buyer should review the sample under consistent lighting and compare it with the supplied reference.
Sample approval should cover:
- Overall shade
- Front and back color balance
- Seam and edge fading
- Pocket and waistband appearance
- Surface effects
- Hand feel
- Visible wash marks
- Post-wash dimensions
If changes are required, feedback should identify the exact area and desired adjustment. Comments such as “slightly lighter overall” or “reduce contrast around the thigh” are more useful when supported by marked photographs or a physical reference.

Finishing Details and Garment Construction
Finishing should be coordinated with pockets, seams, hems, embroidery, buttons, rivets and other garment details. Wash processing can change the appearance of topstitching, metal hardware, labels and decorative elements.
Raw hems, distressed areas, embroidery and other special details should be clearly marked in the tech pack or on the reference sample. Their position, size and visual intensity should be approved before bulk production.
Not every finish is suitable for every fabric or order quantity. Complex effects may require additional development, affect the workable MOQ and increase production time. Feasibility is therefore reviewed according to the actual garment specification rather than promised as a standard option.
Post-Wash Fit and Measurement Check
Washing may affect the waist, rise, thigh, inseam, leg opening and overall garment balance. Stretch denim can also respond differently from rigid cotton denim after processing.
After washing, the sample is checked against the confirmed measurement chart. The review may include shrinkage, leg twisting, symmetry, waistband shape and fabric recovery. If the result falls outside the agreed specification, the pattern, measurement allowance or wash route may need adjustment before approval.

From Approved Sample to Bulk Production
The approved sample and confirmed wash reference are used to guide bulk production and inspection. Checks focus on wash appearance, shade consistency, finishing details, garment measurements and visible defects.
Customized orders usually start from around 100 pieces per style. The workable MOQ depends on the fabric, wash, color, trims and construction. Bulk production normally takes around 30–60 days after the sample, materials and order details are approved.
